The Sculpture

The Sculpture

We are in discussions with several reputable and well-experienced bronze sculpture creators. The sculpture of Grizzly 399 will be based on a famous standing photo of her and her cubs called “The Guardian”. Once the necessary funds are donated, a contract will be let. It will take about a year to create the sculpture.

Use of this photo as the model for the sculpture was given to the Deidre Bainbridge Wildlife Fund by world famous wildlife photographer Tom Mangelsen. This sculpture will be unique and there will not be any additional copies made from the mold or by other techniques using this photo.

The sculpture will be located just outside of Grand Teton National Park in a readily accessible public space. Visitors to the Park will be able to stop and see the sculpture and other attractions once it is completed which we hope will be by the fall of 2023. We will announce the location of the sculpture later this summer.

We also hope to have additional fund raisings in 2023 and 2024 to add two baby grizzly cubs a year to the sculpture. Please help us to memorialize this wonderful grizzly mother who is bringing to everyone’s attention the necessity for peaceful and safe co-existence between all wildlife and humans.
